Looking at special minority group they are not treated equally with protected class due to that each of the crime can be treated differently. Meaning that when it does come to social class and minority groups it seems it feel that the more that someone is able to gain through work the less likely they will be charged. A lot of the time they decide the only way out of a crime would be to pay their way out to not suffer the consequences but when low-income individuals are charge, they stay in the system. It categories them in a way that they are told they are going to reoffend in a way that is likely to reoccur in the system again. Reading through the Limitations of Deterrence Section in Chapter 2, I found it interesting that it lists three reasons why crime control might not have a deterrent on crime. The author shares “even those offenders who do bother to calculate the odds may convince themselves that they will never be apprehended for their crimes.” A lot of individuals put aside the likely hood that they will get charge for a crime when no one is paying attention and didn’t witness the act.
