Purpose of the Assignment: The purpose of this assignment is for students to identify and describe the development of a child with supporting documentation. In addition, students will relate the development to the theories presented and read about in class and through the text. Based on the information gained the student will make
recommendations to foster the overall development of the child.
Relates to Course Objectives: #1, #2, #3, #4, and #6.
The student will develop the profile of a child in early childhood (6 months-8 years of age). The profile will include all the domains of development including biosocial, cognitive/language, and psychosocial development. (This is a child you will “make – up” not a “real” child)
 Write a 6 to 8 APA formatted paper for the profile of the child’s development.
Write words in bold which are used from guidelines Unique, Universal, and Context. (60 points)
 Develop a PowerPoint/Prezi presentation and Screenomatic to share the child profile. (40 points)
For this portion you will share with the online class where your child is at in his or her development. Think of this project as similar to a Parent Conference. You are the teacher and we are the parents. What skills would you want us to know about our child? What goals do you have for our child? Think about what can be
learned in the classroom as well as what we could do at home to help with our child’s development.
The paper should be organized in the following manner:
Title- including child’s name and age.

  1. Introduction: Introduce us to your child and family background. Include significant information from the ecological model. For example, culture, family, and other micro, meso, exo, and macrosystems influences. (See
    Bronfennbrenner’s ecological theory and Context in table below)
  2. Developmental areas: Description of elements of child development (developmental information) with supported documentation. (See attached table: Unique: Characteristics unique to the individual child’s development
    in each domain, and Context: Characteristics of the child’s development that are influenced by the child’s culture, ethnicity, religion, family, education, etc.)3. Theory Connection: developmental observations to theory (See attached
    table: Universal Characteristics of the child’s development that are typical
    and closely match theoretical suppositions)
  3. Conclusion: Recommendations to foster the child’s development at home and/or at school. These would include goals set increase biosocial, psychosocial and cognitive areas of development.
    The Profile of Child Report Guide and the SLO will be used to grade your assignment.
