ALL ASSIGNMENTS TOGETHER IS ONE BIG PAPER
Assignment 2: Course Project Task 1—Topic Selection and Thesis Statement
Through this course, you will gain an appreciation for the nature of science. At its heart, science is about exploration. It is often portrayed as a collection of facts and figures; however, this is not an accurate picture. Science is a never-ending, self-correcting process with the ultimate goal of seeking the truth about matter, energy, and the material universe around us. Instead of taking something for granted, science tests, models, and retests in order to obtain the real story.
While science does have some rather lofty goals, like any human activity, it is limited by our understanding, our tools, and our biases. One way to ensure that it stays on track is through multiple collaborations. As such, science is a true community activity with scientists around the world working together, sharing information and techniques, to achieve a common goal.
For the course project assignment, you will write a research paper about a science topic that you would like to explore in more detail. In this paper, you will explore what is known, what is not known or understood, and how the scientific method comes into play in relation to your topic.
Note that you are free to research any science topic you want. However, you must restrict your topic to one of the sciences discussed in this course—physics, astronomy, geology, chemistry, and biology are the most suitable. Your textbook can be a great resource to identify a particular subject. You could also research something topical that might be in the news at this time. You can also conduct an Internet search, or you may have something you are interested in.
You may also click here to choose a topic from a list of suggestions.
After you have selected your topic, complete the following:
Be sure to address the following in this assignment:
Note: For assistance with developing your thesis statement and for help with research writing, you can access Smarthinking through the Tutoring Services, Help Forums & Tutorials link at the top of the page.
Write a 1–2-page paper in Word format. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M2_A2.doc. For example, if your name is John Smith, your document will be named SmithJ_M2_A2.doc.
By Wednesday, March 12, 2014, deliver your assignment to the M2: Assignment 2 Dropbox.
MY TOPIC IS “AIR POLLUTION LEADING TO GLOBAL WARNING”
THESIS STATEMENT IS “AIR POLLUTION, THROUGH THE RELEASE OF GREEN HOUSE GASES, IS THE CAUSE OF GLOBAL WARNING”
Assignment 2: Course Project Task 2—Developing Arguments
For your course project, you will write a short paper on a specific topic or problem dealing with a subject from the natural sciences. In M2: Assignment 2, you selected a topic.
In this assignment, you will prepare arguments in support of and in opposition to your topic. If you have difficulties in formulating arguments, please contact your instructor for guidance.
In this assignment, complete the following:

Unit 4: Module 4 – M4 Assignment 2
Assignment 2: Course Project Task 3—Working Ahead—Outline of Course Project
In Module 2, you identified a science topic you would like to write a research paper on. You also wrote a thesis statement and a short description about your selected topic. In Module 3, you developed three written arguments in support of your thesis and three written arguments in opposition to your thesis. In Module 5, you will submit your final project paper for this course.
This week, submit an outline of your final project to the M4: Assignment 2 Dropbox for your instructor’s review.
Click here to download an example of the outline that you can use.
This is a nongraded activity. However, it will help you improve the final draft that you will submit in the next module.
HERE IS EXAMPLE OF AN OUTLINE . WE R NOT TO USE THE SAME OUTLINE PRESENTED HERE JUST AN EXAMPLE TO GIVE AN IDEAL
